Self-Care Ain't Selfish
Though we live in an overly saturated society where self-care has become a buzz word, this section will highlight and discuss some of the things I do to maintain my sanity. From Pinterest projects to therapy to soaking in a hot bubble bath, I try to make it a daily goal to commit to dedicate a moment or two to myself each and every day. Self-care isn't always spa dates, face masks, and shopping sprees (though there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of those things), the definition of self-care can vary from person to person. Being a mom, an employee, a co-parent, a friend, and a host of other roles can be extremely taxing and we all know that it's nearly impossible to pour from an empty cup. In 2017, I learned a hard but valuable lesson in the power of 'no', especially as a complete sentence. The moment I began saying 'no' to others and saying a lot more 'yes' to myself, is the day my quality of life changed for the best and I will never be made to feel guilty for filling my own cup, and you shouldn't either.
